House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on "Digg Dialogg" Series Premiere

I’ve always admired Digg for its democratic values. You won’t find editors at Digg; it truly is a website governed by users who have equal access to submit items and Digg what they like. It is fitting that Digg will be using tonight’s Democratic National Convention as a platform to premiere its latest program, Digg Dialogg, a live interview series featuring the most “dugg” questions submitted by users via Digg as well as by videos submitted to CNN’s iReport.com.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will be the program’s first guest. The window for submitting and voting on questions has closed but you can check out potential questions for tonight’s interview at Digg.com/dialogg and iReport.com.

A total of 930 questions were submitted to Digg. They range from the practical – "Please describe what Net Neutrality is and your position on the issue" – to the abstract – "When will we have our rights back?" – to the humorous – "Did you really know what you were getting yourself into when you agreed to do this interview?"

Judging by the most dugg questions, Speaker Pelosi will be asked about the legalization of medical and recreational marijuana, the possibility of repealing the Patriot Act and net neutrality.

The live stream will be taking place at 5:30 p.m. PST on Digg.com/dialogg and available for replay afterwards. The duration of the interview has not been announced.

8/28/08 Update: Digg Dialogg got off to a clunky but noteworthy start last night at the DNC. I was disappointed the video has yet to be posted on Digg but I found the clip on CNN's iReport.com. Digg CEO, Jay Adelson, asked Speaker Pelosi user-submitted questions in descending order of popularity based on the number of diggs it received during the voting period on the website. While Adelson certainly appeals to a tech-savvy audience, I hope his interviewing skills will improve over time. Overall, the interview was informative and engaging despite the low-quality video and background noise. View the interview below.
