-We knew that at some point on How I Met Your Mother, Barney would have to break up with Quinn and Robin would have to break up with Nick, but we didn't know who would break up first, why, and when...until last night. Breaking Bad lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Oedenkirk) made a guest appearance as Barney's lawyer who was hired to create Barney's pre-nup. Barney's pre-nup was 1000 pages long and filled with ridiculous points like a $10,000 penalty for gaining weight. Quinn countered with her own 1000 page pre-nup with equally as ridiculous points and they both realized that they both just don't trust each other enough to move forward...done. I knew it was coming, but I'm going to miss Becki Newton. I love her and hope her new show on FOX does well. I couldn't remember where I recognized Nick, Robin's soon to be ex-boyfriend then it dawned on me...he was Noah's brother on 90210 and he was Nate's uncle on One Tree Hill. Once I figured that one out, I was stumped on where I knew Klaus from. I had to look it up...he was in 17 Again with Zac Efron. In addition to all of that, we learned 2 things about Robin that I wouldn't say were "good". The first was that she gets turned on watching herself do the news and the second is that she wears shoe boots with dresses. That was everything...oh...wait...forgot...FERRET ALERT! (Klaus keeps them as pets) Whewwww now I can relax and watch The Voice.
-It was the last night of blind auditions on The Voice. Crazy Xtina added extra glitter, extra upper deck exposure and extra fanning. I'm sad that this is the end of my favorite chairs, but I am ready for the battle rounds and the new steal feature. Here's a recap:
1) 15 year old Natalie Hernandez: Sob Story Score-1 (missed her prom and her bro's graduation to be on the show) sang Taylor Swifts "White Horse". 3 out of 4 chairs turned...TEAM XTINA
2) Rod (hee hee...his name was Rod) Michael: Sob Story Score-1(went from being in a European boy band to being a nobody) sang a song I didn't know, but guessing it was called "Baby Please Don't Go". 0 chair turns...buh bye Rod
3) Caitlin Michelle: Sob Story Score-2(suffers from extreme headache disorder and panic attacks...Extreme Headache Disorder is a thing? I gotta Google that one I could have that). Sang "Cosmic Love" by Florence & the Machine. 2 out of 4 chairs turned, Blake and Adam's. Blake called Adam a curse word, a really bad one, but it didn't matter...Caitlin picked Adam.
4) Nicole Johnson: Sob Story Score-0. Sang "Mr. Know it All" 2 out of 4 chairs turned around...TEAM BLAKE
5) Kameron Cordvet: Sob Story Score-0. Performed "Crazy" by Seal. No chair turns. Sorry buddy, back to teaching you go.
6) Chevonne: Sob Story Score-2 (Eating disorders) Chevonne toured with Lady Gaga, had REALLY large hair and performed "Brass in Pocket". CeeLo and Blake turned around on her very last note. TEAM CEELO
7) Kayla Nevarez: Sob Story Score-3 (Dad has liver disease can't work, they lost their house). She performed the song "American Boy". 3 out of 4 chairs turned, but no young girl can turn down Adam Levine...TEAM ADAM
8) 16 year old Celica Westbrook: Sob Story Score-1(lost a record deal). Sang "A Thousand Years". 3 out of 4 chair turns. TEAM XTINA. I feel bad that nobody picks Blake...
9) Jessica Cayne: Sob Story Score-2 (eating disorders) Sang "Good Girl" no takers...bummer
10) Rudy Parris: Sob Story Score-1(put his dream on hold for his daughter) Sang "Every Breath You Take". Only Blake and CeeLo were left and both turned around for Rudy. TEAM BLAKE
11) Last audition was Cody Belew: Sob Story Score: 0 Performed "Hard to Handle" TEAM CEELOW
Back by popular demand...our special Dancing with the Stars correspondent, Ed Ziskind who filed this report early this AM.
I love the campiness of DWTS. The music that played when the band was introduced at the top of the show was so wonderfully campy that I thought Captain Stubing was going to walk out and make recommendations for tonight's menu. "The roast duck looks wonderful tonight. Please enjoy tonight's entertainment." Cue the band, the singers sing ("ba ba da da ba ba da – ba ba da da da") and dinner is served.
A DWTS pet peeve – when the stars say "I decided". As if they had anything to do with it. Helio did not "decide" to drive his partner Chelsea around the track in his racecar. And Bristol Palin did not "decide" to take partner Mark to the shooting range to show off what a red neck she is. "I decided" needs to be removed from DWTS. And while we're at it, The Bachelor too!
Speaking of The Bachelor and on to the dancing… Melissa Rycroft had a chance to do a jive 7 seasons after she was held back from doing her jive due to an injury. Apparently she was "made to jive" according to Carrie Ann. I won't disagree.
The last time Sabrina Bryan danced so well (scoring the first 9 of the season), she was sent home. As unlikely as it would be to happen to her twice, it would make great TV!
On the other side of the spectrum is Bristol Palin, back to her terrible season 11 form, sitting at the bottom of the leaderboard. So she's on her way to the finals again – assuming the Republican Conspiracy Theory from Season 11 still applies (http://www.salon.com/2010/11/09/bristol_palin_dwts/). Can we get Chelsea Clinton on the show for Season 16? Seeing Bubba in the audience would be priceless.
My "did they do it" watch is on for Apolo Anton Ohno and his partner Karina (who dated her partner at the time Mario Lopez and was once engaged to cast-mate Maks); as well as Kelly Monaco and her partner Val.
Carrie Ann hooted and hollered for Gilles Marini and Peta so I'm going to up the "Carrie Ann Cat in Heat Count" to three.
After the second night of competition, Sabrina Bryan, Apolo Anton Ohno, Shawn Johnson and Giles Marini are the ones to watch. Bristol Palin and Kirstie Alley are at the bottom of the leaderboard. I suspect it will be someone in the middle going home – that's either Melissa Rycroft, Helio Castroneves, Drew Lachey, Emmit Smith or Joey Fatone.
I have more to say but this is WWTM, not WWTMDWTS. Until tomorrow!
-Seth McFarlane has accepted an invitation to host this year's Oscars. Now, if we were talking about him hosting a roast, I would be psyched because he's REALLY good when he does his thing on Comedy Central. Not sure how I feel about him hosting the Oscars. If this clip is any indication of what's to come on February 25th...it won't be good. Check it out: (or don't...it's not that funny) http://mashable.com/2012/10/01/seth-macfarlane-host-oscars-academy-awards/
-I have to tell you guys, that up until today, the Cablevision/WPIX/CW issue hasn't been that big of a deal because we've been in reruns. But tonight is the Season Premiere of Hart of Dixie and I'm freaking out that I can't watch it live. DAMN YOU CABLEVISION! Last season ended with an amazing cliffhanger and I can't believe that I won't be able to watch it until it's available online. What is this world coming to? It's bad enough that I have to deal with this problem for Hart of Dixie, but when Vampire Diaries returns, and when the new show Arrow premiere's and I can't watch it live...I'm going to lose it. Who do I have to call? I'll call them. I need my Zoey Hart and my Damien Salvatore...The Dolan's have just gone too far this time. I WANT MY CW and I WANT IT TONIGHT BEFORE 8pm! Please???
-I now that there are a lot of Walking Dead fans out there. I of course don't watch this one, but for those of you that do, AMC has launched original webisodes tied to show on AMCtv.com. It's called Cold Storage and it tells the story of a young man trying to reach his sister in the early days of the zombie apocalypse. Just thought you true fans would want to know.
-For those of you that watched Jerry Seinfeld's web series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee on Crackle.com, you probably saw all of the promotion for Rescue Me which is now available on the site. The entire series will be available by the end of March 2013. I never watched Rescue Me when it was on the air. I hate Denis Leary(not a nice guy when I met him) but I was always told that it was a GREAT show, so for anyone who cares or missed a season or something, you can now catch up on it if you want to.
-Also available online for Dexter fans, Showtime has launched a podcast and an interactive game on Facebook. The podcast, is called Dexter Wrap-Up, and offers a behind-the-scenes look into the making-of the series. New podcasts will be available on iTunes for free every Sunday night after each new episode airs. The weekly social game, Dexter's Disciples, is also integrated within the show's iOS apps. It tests users' knowledge about the show and encourages them to make predictions about what will happen.
-October is sort of a boring month with the exception of Halloween, so with the Emmy contest over, lets get the refer a friend contest back and see how many new readers you can all send my way by Halloween...there is of course a prize...Just send me their email address, or have them send it to me saying that you referred them and whoever gets credit for the most email addresses submitted by 10/31 wins the prize.
