I couldn't wait to get home last night and tune in to the 25th season of Survivor and the Big Brother finale. Neither disappointed.
I love how so much of Survivor changes, like the locations, the players and the twists, but yet so much stays the same. Jeff, his shirts, the opening scenes that show the terrain and the animals. I still have no idea to this day why everyone shows up wearing street clothes that make no sense and then within minutes they all are in their underwear. You'd think after 25 seasons people would dress in practical clothes. When Jeff starts live tweeting again, I need to remember to ask about this.
This season started off with 3 teams instead of two. Each of the teams have a former player who left the game early due to medical reasons. They also separated the celebrities, former baseball player Jeff Kent and former child star Lisa Whelchel from Facts of Life. Only one person recognized Blair and only one person recognized Jeff. I had no idea who Jeff Kent was, but c'mon Blair Warner is a classic...well, maybe to old people like me she is.
You would think that Russell, who has played this game before would learn from his mistakes. He was an annoying leader last go around and swore he wasn't going to make the same mistake twice. Sure enough...super annoying leader who bossed everyone around, took the lead role and didn't listen to anyone on his tribe and admitted at tribal council that he screwed up. However, Zane made a bigger mistake. He overplayed, and tried to form alliances with everyone way too fast...result...he's G...O...N...E. Buh Bye Zane.
Injury Report for episode one: Jeff Kent - Knee Injury, Michael Skupin - Head injury, foot injury and finger injury...it's only the FIRST EPISODE Skupin!!!
So here's the thing...It was a great Big Brother season. You can say whatever you want about Dan's gameplay. You may love him, you may hate him, but take him out of the show this season and it would not have been 1/2 as enjoyable to witness. I think that all of the houseguest's voted with their hearts and not their heads. The best player didn't win the game...at least not in my opinion. All of that being said, I still love the show and am thrilled that it has been renewed for another season. See Ya Next Summer Julie!
Some final Big Brother Bullets:
- Did Dan's yelling seem extra loud to you?
- Shane seemed to have time to stop on his way to the jury house to pick up a brand new pair of sneakers
- Dan sort of looked like the devil in the final HOH competition
- I believe it was Danielle's who said...fool me once-shame on you...fool me twice-shame on me...fool me three times I'm a dumb ass...fool me FOUR TIMES-you are a really really dumb ass player!
- It looked like someone spilled paint on Shane's jeans
- All Danielle cared about was seeing Shane
- Shane looked like he had hair plugs
- Great jury questions and great houseguest's answers
- Good final speech from Ian...gotta say
- Didn't love Dan's final speech
- While I wasn't happy at who won, I do want the credit for saying that I totally called from day 1 that Ian could take the whole game)
- Frank got the 25K, was I the only person that didn't love him?
-No Simon for the first half of X Factor last night, he was sick and couldn't attend the auditions. So some guy named Louis who manages boy bands in the UK covered for him. Louis started drinking the Pepsi right away. Rizlo Jones from Kansas City was the first to audition. He didn't look like a rapper at all, but he went with a freestyle rap thing. The judges liked Rizlo. I didn't, but I'm not into rap much. I don't think Simon would have agreed if he was there, but who knows...I could be wrong. CECE came out with leopard spots on her face and a hot outfit but then sang Unchained Melody which just didn't work at all. The judges agreed with me, stopped her and made her try something else which was much better. I didn't love her even on the second round but again...I'm not up there sitting next to Brittany. Brittany's rendition of Happy Birthday to LA wasn't the greatest. I don't think she would have been given 4 yes's if she was auditioning for the show. She always looks befuddled and again her face and body language don't match her commentary. More oddness...Vino's tattooed head. He was pretty good but a bit too disturbing to look at for me. Super sweaty, with the tattooed head that's a hard sell. DeAngelo Wallace kept putting all the judges down and was ultra annoying. Thankfully he stunk, but instead of kicking him off the stage, the judges all just got up and left. Then he steals the microphone and gets arrested? Looked staged to me. What criminal gets put in the front seat of a police car? I loved the country singer Tate, from Missouri and so did everyone else. Citizen bored Simon...and me. I love a good boy band but I hated these guys. Everyone else like them and they got put through, but I thought Simon was spot ON. 13 year old Diamond White was great. Not what anyone expected at all. Ally Brooke was really good too. Panda...wow. That about did it for me. 5 hours of programming in under 4 hours...pretty impressive.
An interesting chart...just a good one to share.
-Chef Wolfgang Puck is joining Top Chef Seattle...I like him, it may actually get me to watch
-I know I am obsessed with award shows especially the Emmy's, so if you're annoyed by my excitement...I'm sorry, but if you are as excited and into it as I am, then I suggest downloading the Emmy's "Backstage Live" App. It is really cool and gets cooler each year. Here's what you'll get this year:
- Cameras at the Governor's Ball, the after-party for Emmy winners, nominees and presenters.
- Emmy Winner's Circle access, where celebrities personalize their statuettes.
- Three different viewing options that will show footage from 15 cameras
- The host camera will show Jimmy Kimmel and his team of writers backstage.
- The producer's camera will follow Don Mischer as he produces the show.
- The thank you camera will feature winners.
- The green room camera will capture celebrities mingling.
- The trophy table camera will show winners picking up trophies.
- The press room camera will tape winners answering questions from media.
