Let's just get this out of the way. The Yankees blew it, they crumbled, season over. There's always next year, I should know...I'm a Jet fan. I'm moving on.
-On Wednesday night with the baseball rain delays, I got all screwed up and didn't watch X Factor. I watched the abbreviated version of it last night even though they will be rerunning the entire episode next Tuesday. Man the producers knows how to drag out revealing the final 16. I could have done it in 16 minutes, but they took 120! Yeesh. Britney said the exact same words to every single contestant. She just tweaked the last last line for the two of them she was sending home. 15 million bucks and she couldn't come up with anything interesting to say. She called everyone sweetie, told everyone they were great, told everyone she wasn't sure if they had what it takes, she told 4 of them that they were staying (my favorite, Carly Rose made it) and 2 that they were going home...at least they got the sweetie title even with the bad news. Then it was LA's turn. LA kept the guy I wanted him to...Vino, the tattoo headed guy in need of therapy. Demi Lovato only revealed 2 of her final 4 and then we were hit with The Mindy Project and back to baseball. Guess I'll have to tune in next week for the final 2 on Demi's team and all of Simon's picks.
-We really like Guys with Kids in my house. I keep reading rumors of its demise, and I hope they are just rumors because the show is fun to watch with my 11 year old. We love that one of the kid's names is Yoda, it's hilarious. This week, Gary wanted the day off from his stay at home Dad duties, so, his wife, Vanessa Huxtable, tried to take care of all four of their kids all by herself and of course it was a disaster and she ended up in the emergency room. To celebrate Gary's day off, the guys wanted to go to a Football game, but Chris lost the season tickets to super evil Sheila in the divorce. Sheila said they could have the tickets if they helped her pack up her apartment. They stole her couch in the process. Sounds ridiculous, but it was cute and if you're 11, you laughed out loud, especially every time Yoda was on screen. For my FBFF's sake, please don't cancel this show NBC. I don't want the first time we share some Ben & Jerry's to be to cheer him up, I wanted it to be for celebration him finally sleeping over my house!!!!
-On 30 Rock, there were a few great lines and a few great moments, man I'm going to miss this show when it's over. (Luckily I'll be able to take advantage of syndication as I haven't re-watched most episodes) Tracy (who appears to have gained every pound that Alec lost) pissed Liz off by his proclamation that Men and Monkeys are funnier than woman (What's with NBC and monkey's lately?) Of course Liz had to prove that this just wasn't true, which she does every week by writing this show. Some of Tina Fey's best lines of the night: when Liz told Jack that instead of the walk of shame he was taking a "Stride with Pride". Sounded much better right? I hope it actually catches on. Awesome moment when Jack met one of the women he was currently dating out on the street (while he was with another) she introduces him to Olympic Gold Medalist, Ryan Lochte..."Jack...Ryan...Ryan...Jack" Anyone get why that line is classic? I'll wait and see who reads and responds...super deluxe bonus for anyone who gets the reference. Of course, Liz as Carrie Bradshaw typing into her computer at the end wearing a tutu was awesome, especially when Liz fell off the bed...Carrie never would have done that. Gotta admit the monkey in the diaper...funny!
-Another great episode of one of my favorite shows, Parks & Recreation. This week, Tom was tweeting and driving and was sentenced to one week with no screens at all. His withdrawal was almost as bad as a heroin addicts except...no methadone. He was drawing IPhones, begging for "anything 4G" and a Samsung Galaxy. So funny and probably how I'd react if all of my screens were taken away for a week too. While Tom was freaking out, Leslie took on the rampant problem of sexually transmitted diseases amongst Pawnee's elderly, it seems there was a major chlamydia outbreak that needed handling, only one problem, according to Pawnee law, only abstinence can be taught by government officials. Loved that fans of Perd Hapley are apparently called...PERD-VERTS! Also loved the happily married Langman's, the obviously gay husband and straight wife who live an abstinent life and represent the moral majority in Pawnee. Loved the spin on this subject Amy Poehler...loved it. You gotta check out this video...I think I have a lot in common with Tom... http://www.nbc.com/parks-and-recreation/video/toms-addiction/1421015
NBC cancelled Animal Practice yesterday...it's official, shows starring monkey's just don't work. I feel bad for Justin Kirk from Weeds and actually for Joanna Garcia Swisher, at least she and her husband are both down in the dumps at the same time. Stock up on some Ben & Jerry's guys...it helps.
Lots actually going on with this chart...Lots of changes with regard to Facebook. I see how my usage is down, but I also see how my usage has changed from Desktop to more mobile. Makes sense to me, but interesting nonetheless.
According to a TVGuide.com survey of 10,000 people:
- 42% of respondents watched more streamed content in 2012 compared to 2011
- 73% said they watched streaming content to catch up on missed episodes
- 8% watched streaming content because they had cut back on their cable subscription
- 10% watched streaming content because they had cancelled their service altogether
- 30% of respondents that pay for video service like Hulu and Netflix said they watch more content now than in 2011
- Mobile users pay for 10% of the content they watch on their tablets and smartphones
- 47% said they co-viewed at home
Friday's Trivia Question: Peter Krause who currently plays Adam Braverman on NBC's Parenthood played this guy on HBO's Six Feet Under.
Have a great weekend!
